44 Laps!!!!!!!!!!
Wow......Scott said Zachary never slowed down! He walked the most laps in the 1st grade...& it is a really good thing, because he was obsessive about it!
Let me explain.......Last year when Zachary was in Kindergarten, the school had their annual walk-a-thon. This is the school's largest fundraiser and also promotes health & exercise. The kids have about 1 week to ask family & friends if they would like to sponsor them. Zachary walked 21 laps last year. HOWEVER, this year, he was obsessed with winning. He wanted an Ipod or one of the other many prizes. He solicited sponsors from everyone, from the family - to Dr. Thomas (veterinarian). Sponsors could pledge an amount per lap or a flat amount. Needless to say.....the flat amount sponsors - they were the smart ones! The losers....well, that would be Scott & Me at $1.25 per lap.......Honey & Papa Bob at $1.00 per lap, & Aunt Alicia & Carina at $0.50 per lap.
And did I mention.....he walked...no ran...44 laps!!!!
While he did walk more than any other 1st grader, he didn't win the grand prize. He was satisfied when he won $20. The money was burning a hole in his pocket & he promptly purchased a new toy gun.
Zachary is ready to start asking for sponsor's NOW.....he wants to get a head start on next year...... All that I can say......WATCH OUT when you see him coming!
Thanks to all of you for your support in sponsoring Zachary - we are very proud of his resolve!

Dustin & Robin's Wedding
THEY ARE MARRIED!
Scott, Zachary, Hope & I traveled to Texas for Dustin & Robin's wedding. It was a whirlwind trip but always great to see our family. As usual - we pulled in to Fort Worth and went straight to Mexican Inn for our mexican fix (you just can't get the real thing in Dickson)! Afterwards, Scott & Bob headed over to join the Bachelor Party.
Friday was a great day for a wedding! The weather was beautiful, as were the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens.....it would have been a perfect day if we hadn't been hit by some girl running a red light!!!!! No insurance, no liscense....you know the drill (and Scott ....you may not write any further details regarding the accident on this blog!). :-) You all don't know....but you'll thank me for that!
The wedding was beautiful, as was the bride & groom. Steven & Jeanie did ALOT of shaking their groove things! (and looked good doing so). Caroline & Hope were so sweet & made perfect flower girls. Michael & Zachary looked handsome & enjoyed passing out bubbles. Zachary still says "I can't believe Uncle Dustin is married"...LOL...it's funny to hear what kids say.
Dustin & Robin headed to a hotel for the weekend & the rest of us headed to the lake. Greg was a brave one & took all 4 kids to the donut shop on Saturday morning & then we took a ride on the boat................brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...it was cold - nothing like the Texas weather that I am accustomed to! The boys rode on Michael's new giant inner tube & loved every frozen minute. Later on, Honey & Papa Bob arrived, as well as PawPaw & Ms. Jeanie. We had a great dinner & smores outside....great weather!
We packed up to head home on Sunday - had breakfast with the family & then were on our journey. It was a good trip!

Tonya's B-Day
Ok, Tonya thought it would be a good idea to have a blog. Why she thinks I want to talk more or less than I already try not to do, I have no idea.
So we celebrate Tonya's Birthday on Saturday. Per "Big Daddy" a.k.a. Doc, Saturday was "Bring your own QUALITY Porter House Steak Night". The insinuation here was that I might swap his Porter House with my soy bean burger or something.
First Off, I think if Big Daddy is that possessive over his Steak he needs to cook it himself! Which to my surprise he actually did start the grill and hover over the steaks. However, all the steaks were the same, in fact...I think Tonya bought them so there was no swapping. I really wanted to cook some deer meat and throw it on his plate to substitute his steak.
So I get Tonya a bluetooth for her phone. Only to find out, that expensive nextel phone we got two years ago is not bluetooth compatible. I am to the point now I just assume get the average price gadgets, and go back later to get the next latest and greatest. Anyways I digress, so after I got her this wireless gadget it doesn't work. Back to Verizon I go to return it. Only now, I am getting real tired of going to Verizon. You have to go in the store, type your name into this screen and wait for someone to come find you and help you out. I just want to return the damn thing. Not spend another 20 minutes waiting on a salesperson to get off their lazy rear and come find me. I have spent more time returning stuff to Verizon than purchasing their products.
Ok, I forgot why I started this little tantrum....but I am running out of my words for the day. I am sure Tonya will have more to say later.
Look forward to seeing you all soon at Dustin's Wedding. Might even be a good time to stretch a seadoo out.

What every family should have......
Yes - it is red again! I thought I would share w/ all of you something...or rather someone that my kids just love! I have an Aunt.....we refer to her as our 'Great Ole Aunt Sara'.....
When I was growing up - she never missed a B'Day or Holiday....especially since she has lived away from us for many years. She is always the first gift that arrives & now my kids get to enjoy this same feeling. As usual - for Valentine's Day, a box arrived & they new it was from Aunt Sara. She had stickers, candy, cups, stuffed animals among the goodies. They love their packages from her.......Zachary asked how she always remembered to send things & guessed it correctly.....she loved them very much...........
My lesson for the day.........never miss the oportunity to be that special person to a child....they will remember it for a lifetime!

Happy Valentine's Day!
So...I write this posting in red for Valentine's Day & I wonder what all of you parents do for V'Day. You know....I love V'Day - but I have found it a bit stressful this year. We have 2 kids.....this equates to 2 sets of Valentine cards to give out at school. Oh...& let's not forget, we 'need' to take goodies for all of the kids in the class. Oh....& let's not forget that we need to send a tasty treat for the party & perhaps be available to volunteer at school to assist w/ the party. And I haven't even started purchasing something for the husband & the kids from me for Valentine's Day............LOL...Does this sound like Christmas to you?
I really do love each holiday, but it seems that each year they get bigger & better. What do you think? What is reasonable?
After all of this prep work.....guess what? School is out for V'Day & Friday for the flu!!!!!!!!!! I guess it is back to baking on Sunday night.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of you!
